Preventing Bed Bugs

When you get into bed at night you want to relax and enjoy peaceful sleep. The LAST thing you want is to wake up with itchy bites and tiny bed bugs. Unfortunately, bed bug infestations can happen in any home. You can have the cleanest home on the block and the bed bugs will still find their way inside. If you find yourself in this situation, don’t panic! There are ways to evict the bugs and go back to your peaceful and bug free bed.

Recognizing An Infestation

If you wake up with bites that were not there the night before, you may have bed bugs. If you notice dark spots around your sheets, you may have bed bugs. If you see tiny blood stains around your sheets and pillows, you may have bed bugs. First, it’s time to strip the bedding and wash everything. Second, look around the bed (books, tables, clothes, etc.) and check for any more signs of bed bugs. If you still aren’t sure if you found everything, give us a call at Eco-Care.

Getting Rid Of An Infestation

Like we said before, immediately wash all bedding and items surrounding the bed. Vacuum the bed and carpet to pick up anything left behind. You may also want to invest in a cover for your box spring and mattress to keep the pests out. If you are still having trouble with the bugs, you might have to replace the entire mattress.

Extermination

If you are trying to eliminate the problem yourself, make sure any products you use in the bedroom are safe and not harmful to you. Remember, you can always Eco-Care Pest Control handle the extermination. This ensures all the products used are safe for you and your home.

Eco Care is a family-owned pest-control company. Eco Care owner Erich Grove, a board-certified entomologist, uses science to get insects and other pests under control in Howard County and surrounding areas of Maryland and that means you have science on your side.
